Bilic – 'I would love Modric, Pjanic, Mandzukic but it is not going to happen'

Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic revealed he must be realistic with his transfer targets and the club are operating within their means.

“Of course I would love Modric, Mandzukic, Rakitic from Croatia and Dzeko, Pjanic and Spahic from Bosnia but we have to be realistic,” Bilic said.

“We operate within our means and deserve credit for that.”

Besiktas plan to sign Opare on permanent deal from Porto

The Istanbul giants have been recovering from a financial crisis that rocked the club in 2012.

Beşiktaş have had a policy of signing young Turkish talent raised in academies outside of Turkey before they have made a name for themselves.

The Black Eagles recently signed Oğuzhan Özyakup from the Arsenal academy, Kerim Frei from Fulham, Gökhan Töre from the Chelsea academy and Tolgay Arsenal from HSV.

Beşiktaş lost the opportunity to go into the international break in first place after losing the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe at the Şükrü Saracoğlu.

Bilic has failed to win an Istanbul derby against Galatsaray or Fenerbahçe since taking over.
