Ilkay Gündoğan has informed Barcelona of his desire to leave the club this summer according to Sport.
The German midfielder of Turkish origin, who joined the Catalan giants from Manchester City in 2023, has struggled to secure regular playing time under Xavi Hernández.
With just one year remaining on his contract, Barcelona are open to letting Gündoğan depart if they receive a suitable offer.

Gündoğan’s decision to leave has sparked interest from several clubs, including Fenerbahce and Saudi Arabian teams. Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe are reportedly keen on signing the experienced midfielder, while Saudi Arabian clubs are monitoring the situation.
The midfielder is of Turkish origin, speaks the language and has family in the country so it would be easy for him to settle in were he to move to Fenerbahçe.
The 33-year-old has been a valuable asset for Barcelona since his arrival, but the club’s decision to leave him out of the squad for their opening La Liga match against Valencia highlights his uncertain future.
With the transfer window still open, Gündoğan will be hoping to find a new club where he can continue his playing career at the highest level.
The midfielder was not included in the match day squad for the 2-1 victory away to Valencia on the opening game of the season over the weekend.
