Fenerbahçe Exploring Move for Ajax Defender

Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are reportedly interested in signing Ajax defender Ahmetcan Kaplan, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

The 21-year-old centre-back has struggled for regular playing time at Ajax this season, making only six first-team appearances.

Kaplan only has one assist in eight appearances in all competitions for Ajax this season playing a total of 503 minutes of first team football. He has made just three starts in the Eredivisie this term.

This has led to speculation about a potential move away from the Dutch club.

Fenerbahçe, who paid €10 million to sign Kaplan from Trabzonspor in 2022, are now exploring the possibility of bringing the Turkish youth international back to his homeland.

Injuries have hampered Kaplan’s progress at Ajax, limiting his opportunities for first-team action.

While Ajax will be aware of Kaplan’s potential, they may be open to a loan move or a permanent transfer to allow the young defender to gain more regular playing time elsewhere.

It remains to be seen whether Fenerbahçe will be able to reach an agreement with Ajax for Kaplan.
