According to Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray have initiated discussions with Aston Villa regarding the potential transfer of Brazilian defender Diego Carlos.
Initial reports suggested that Carlos could be involved in a swap deal with Sevilla for Loic Bade. However, Romano has clarified that this is not the case.

Villa are open to selling Carlos, who has struggled to consistently impress since his arrival at the club.
Romano tweeted the following on X: “Galatasaray have approached Aston Villa to ask for Brazilian CB Diego Carlos.
Talks start as Diego Carlos can still leave Aston Villa with several options open.
He won’t be part of Loic Badé deal with Sevilla despite reports.”
The Brazilian defender has been a part of a Villa defense that has conceded 32 goals in 20 Premier League matches, a concerning statistic for a team aiming for a top-four finish.
Fenerbahce were previously considered the frontrunners for Carlos, but Galatasaray have now entered the race.
While Villa would prefer to offload Carlos before the January transfer window closes, they will need to carefully consider their defensive options, particularly with Pau Torres currently sidelined with an injury.
The club has already strengthened its squad with the acquisition of Donyell Malen, but further signings may be difficult to achieve due to financial constraints.
