Newcastle United Explore Galatasaray Winger as Potential Transfer Target

Newcastle United are exploring potential targets to bolster their attacking options in the January transfer window, with Galatasaray’s Barış Alper Yılmaz emerging as a potential candidate.

While the club has been linked with high-profile names like Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, the potential transfer fees involved in those deals could prove prohibitive.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Yilmaz has been mooted as a potential alternative. The 24-year-old has been a revelation for Galatasaray this season, scoring ten goals in just 19 Super Lig games as the Turkish giants sit atop the table.

Dean Jones acknowledged on the ‘Market Madness’ podcast that Yilmaz might not be the most glamorous signing, but he believes the Turkish winger could be a valuable addition to the Newcastle squad.

Jones said: “I spoke to someone this morning about this. I said, ‘what potentially exciting signings could we see at Newcastle coming up?’. “One that I think we should be looking for is [Baris Alper] Yilmaz at Galatasaray, and this has been mooted already. Not hugely, but he has been linked. “He’s 24, can play on both flanks. In terms of profile I think that he’s a good fit. He’s not necessarily one of those really exciting ones. “Is he going to send waves throughout the fan base? Probably not, but he’s also not necessarily as easy to get as you might believe.”

Yilmaz has also impressed on the international stage, earning 24 caps for Turkey.

With Miguel Almirón potentially returning to MLS, Newcastle are actively seeking a new right-sided attacker. While Yilmaz may not be the most high-profile target, his impressive form in Turkey suggests he could be a shrewd acquisition for Eddie Howe’s side.
