Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly set his sights on winger Jadon Sancho, with Turkish giants Fenerbahce keen to secure his signature this summer according to Yeni Asir.

This development comes as Chelsea, where Sancho is currently on loan, are yet to fully commit to a permanent deal.

Manchester United are bracing for a significant squad overhaul in the upcoming transfer window.

Following a season of disappointing results, which sees them languishing in 16th place in the Premier League with 16 defeats in 36 matches, the club aims to offload several players to bolster their transfer funds.

The appointment of Ruben Amorim mid-season has further necessitated this clear-out, as the current squad has struggled to adapt to the new manager’s tactical approach.

While a glimmer of hope remains in the form of a potential Champions League spot should they triumph in the upcoming Europa League final, United are actively looking to move on players currently out on loan. Sancho’s situation is a key focus.

The 25-year-old joined Chelsea with a clause stipulating an obligation to buy if the Blues finished above 15th in the Premier League.

Having already secured this, Chelsea are technically obligated to pay between £20m and £25m for the winger.

However, reports indicate that the London club are strongly considering activating a £5m break clause to avoid the permanent acquisition.

Amid this uncertainty, Turkish news outlet Yeni Asir claims that Mourinho, now at the helm of Fenerbahce, is eager to bring Sancho to Istanbul.

Despite featuring in 40 matches for Chelsea across all competitions this season, contributing four goals and ten assists, Sancho has struggled to consistently impress at Stamford Bridge. A return to Old Trafford appears unlikely.

The potential transfer to Fenerbahce presents a complex scenario. While the exact figure the Turkish club is willing to offer remains undisclosed, Manchester United will be keen to maximize any fee received.

Simultaneously, offloading Sancho’s significant wages would provide a welcome boost to the financially strained Premier League club. The coming weeks are set to be crucial in determining Sancho’s next destination.
