Fresh off securing a domestic double, Galatasaray has wasted no time in laying the groundwork for an ambitious push in the upcoming Champions League campaign.

At the top of their transfer wishlist is Manchester City’s versatile midfielder, Bernardo Silva, a pursuit that has quickly electrified the Sarı-Kırmızılı faithful.

Silva, widely expected to depart the Etihad Stadium, is considered the primary target for the crucial number 10 role.

The 30-year-old Portuguese star is a player highly admired by Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, who views him as an ideal fit to bolster the squad.

Galatasaray has reportedly initiated official contact with Manchester City regarding Silva’s availability and is now awaiting developments from both the club and the experienced player himself, according to Fotomac.

Silva has been a pivotal figure for the English champions since joining in 2017, contributing 5 goals and 4 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions this past season.

The move for a creative midfielder comes as Galatasaray prepares for the departure of veteran Dries Mertens.

The club sees Bernardo Silva’s playing profile, leadership qualities, and extensive experience as perfectly suited to fill the void left by the Belgian, anticipating he could have a similar “Mertens effect” on the team, particularly in the demanding environment of the Champions League.

Beyond Silva, Fotomac also report that Galatasaray continues to monitor İlkay Gündoğan, another high-profile midfielder who has been on their radar for some time.

While the 34-year-old German international is technically expected to remain at Manchester City for another year, reports suggest he is keen on a move to Galatasaray. It’s understood that Gündoğan plans to consult with his family and await Manchester City’s decision regarding his future before making any commitments.

Galatasaray’s aggressive pursuit of both Silva and Gündoğan underscores their determination to assemble a formidable squad capable of competing at the highest level in European football next season.
