In a move that could signal the end of an era at the Etihad, Turkish giants Galatasaray have reportedly submitted an opening bid for Manchester City’s long-serving goalkeeper, Ederson. Sources close to the deal suggest that Galatasaray is confident of securing the Brazilian international, who is said to be keen on the transfer.
The 31-year-old, a cornerstone of City’s historic success over the past eight seasons, has been the subject of transfer interest for some time, with persistent links to the Saudi Pro League throughout the year. However, a move to the Turkish Super Lig now appears to be gaining significant momentum.

According to a report from TEAMtalk’s Rudy Galetti, Galatasaray has not only made an official offer but has also received a “positive signal” from the player himself. Ederson has reportedly indicated his full availability to join the club and is even willing to take a wage cut to help make the deal happen, a sign of his interest in Galatasaray’s ambitious project.
For Manchester City, the sale would align with the club’s broader strategy of reshaping its squad.
While Ederson has been a pivotal figure in winning six Premier League titles and the club’s first-ever Champions League crown, there’s a growing belief internally that the time may be right for a new goalkeeper to lead the next phase. The club is reportedly open to a sale, but only on its own terms.
The reported fee for the goalkeeper, who has just one year remaining on his contract, is said to be around €15 million. Galatasaray hopes to negotiate an even lower figure.
The potential departure of Ederson also casts a spotlight on City’s second-choice keeper, Stefan Ortega. The German has made it clear he desires a number one role, whether at City or elsewhere. This adds another layer of complexity as the club may need to secure a new primary keeper before sanctioning any deal.
City has already been linked with several top goalkeepers this summer, including FC Porto’s Diogo Costa and Juventus’ Michele Di Gregorio. The potential move to Turkey for Ederson would bring an end to a stellar career in Manchester, marked by remarkable trophy hauls and a legacy as one of the best goalkeepers in the club’s history.
