Mersin Idman Yurdu unveiled an impressive piece of choreography ahead of the Fenerbahçe clash on Sunday 17 May depicting a hellish scene involving a red devil cooking a canary, a lion and an eagle in a cauldron.
The Mediterranean based side are nicknamed the Red Devils and the tifo symbolises Mersin making a soup out of Fenerbahçe – the Yellow Canaries – Galatasaray – the Lions and Beşiktaş – the Black Eagles.
The team did not repay the Mersin supporters for their hard work choreographing the unusual show as they went onto lose the game 1-0 at the Mersin Arena.
The team play at the 25,534 seater Mersin Arena stadium that was constructed in 2013. The stadium is rumoured to have been built over a cemetery dating back to 1748.
Mersin remained in seventh place on 43 points following the game while second placed Fenerbahçe closed the gap with league leaders Galatasaray to three points.
The Yellow Canaries take on Başakşehir next in the mini Istanbul derby.
