The 26-year-old spent three months on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League back in October.
“As a player, that’s something you have to get used to. In my first season, not having a winter break meant that I could notice my body becoming a bit tired,” Ozil told Arsenal.com.
“I had the World Cup after my first season here. It was such a great time but when I came back, the fitness coach said that even though I felt fit, the freshness was missing.

Arsenal ‘kept Man Utd at distance’ says Mesut Ozil
Özil went onto talk about his path to recovery and that he believes he is now stronger than before.
“That was a really bitter time because I missed football but it’s an experience you have to go through as a player.
“My aim was always to come back stronger and, thanks to God, everything worked out.”
Özil has been in excellent form since returning to the first team after spending three months on the sidelines.
The Arsenal star has won two Vitality Arsenal Player of the Month as well as a PFA Fans Player of the Month award in 2015. The 26-year-old has six assists and four goals in 21 appearances in the Premier League this season.
Özil is expected to start in Arsenal’s clash with Aston Villa in the FA Cup final this weekend.
