Arsenal star Mesut Özil has had a busy summer globetrotting around the world visiting Los Angeles, Germany and Singapore.
Özil’s latest point of call is Istanbul. The World Cup winner shared a picture looking over the Bosphorus alongside the caption: “Istanbul is always a good idea #LoveThisCity #Turkey.”
The 26-year-old is no stranger to Turkey being of Turkish origin. Özil’s family are from the Hışıroğlu village located in the Zonguldak province in the north-west of the country.
Özil is bi-lingual in Turkish as well as German and is a popular celebrity in Turkey. The Arsenal playmaker even has a street named after him in the town of Devrek in recognition of his last visit to the area.
The World Cup winner is expected to travel back to North London for the Emirates Cup against Lyon, Wolfsburg and Villarreal on the weekend.
Özil was also part of the Gunners side that lifted the Barclays Asia Trophy cup in Singapore last Saturday after defeating Everton 3-1.
