Celtic boss wants to put Nadir Ciftci biting incident behind him

Celtic manager Ronny Deila believes that it is time to put the Nadir Çiftçi biting incident behind him and move on.

Deila also stated that Celtic have enough depth to compensate for Çiftçi being suspended for six league games.

“We have lot of strikers in the club who can do a job when he’s out,” Deila was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“We want to move on, that’s the most important thing because he has a long career here at Celtic and this is just the start and now we have to focus on football.

“He’s ready for playing and looking forward to the next match.”

The Turkish striker will miss was found guilty of biting Jim McAlister in May’s Dundee derby but he will be available for Wednesday’s Europa League match against Stjarnan.

The Celtic striker will be out of league action until the the Aberdeen game in September. Çiftçi joined Celtic earlier this month on a £1.5 million transfer from Dundee United.

The 23-year-old striker was the fourth top scorer in the Scottish Premier League last season netting 12 goals in 34 league games for Dundee United.

The young striker was born in the Netherlands but represents Turkey due to being of Turkish heritage.

The Turkish international has previously played for Portsmouth, Kayserispor in Turkey and NAC Breda in Holland.
