Slaven Bilic – ‘We deserved to win but I am not that happy’ [divider]
Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic revealed that he was happy with his sides 2-1 win against Partizan in Europa League Group C but was disappointed with the last 20 minutes.
“We earned a very important win,” Bilic said after the game.
“We are one step closer to our goal of securing a place in the Round of 32.
“Partizan were tough to play against but I thought we did enough to win it however, I am disappointed with our performance in the last 20 minutes.
“We panicked and played like a team clinging on for deal life when the only real chance the opposition had was the last second free-kick.
“But we managed to hold on to the win, now we move on to the Asteras Tripolis game.”
Bilic believes his side were taught a valuable lesson about not underestimating their opposition.
“We beat Partizan by a few goals in the last game, this resulted in the team thinking they would automatically do the same again,” Bilic said.
“Hopefully this has been a valuable lesson and shown how dangerous it is to underestimate your opposition.
“We really struggled towards the end in a game in which we were in total control of.”
The win kept Beşiktaş in joint first position at the top of Group C with Tottenham with eight points.
