Mesut Özil has taken to Instagram to mark the second year anniversary of the day he signed for Arsenal from Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old joined Arsenal from Madrid for a club record £42 million back in August 2013.
Özil posted a picture of himself along with the caption, “Two years ago today … I became a Gunner #YaGunnersYa #BeTheDifference #Arsenal #Flashback.”
The 26-year-old missed Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle due to a knee injury he sustained during training earlier this week. The Germany international missed three months of football last season with a knee injury .
Özil has won two FA Cup trophies and the Community Shield since joining the North London based club.
Arsenal drew German champions Bayern Munich, Greek league title holders Olympiakos and Croatian giants Dynamo Zagreb in the group stages.
The Gunners take on Zagreb first in Croatia on Wednesday 16 September.
Özil is expected to feature in Germany’s encounter with Poland this week.
