Abdullah Avcı – ‘If I was Terim I would have stayed in Latvia’ [divider]
Former Turkish national team manager manager Abdullah Avcı has slammed Fatih Terim for the Crescent-Stars recent form.
“The media ripped me apart when I was in charge of the national team,” Avcı said.
“Everything about me was criticised.
“But I don’t see the same level of criticism anymore, I mean if I was Terim I would have stayed in Latvia after the 1-1 draw.”
Avcı was sacked after 18 games in charge of the Turkey and has since returned to club management.
The 51-year-old coach took over Başakşehir this summer.
Terim has been in charge of Turkey for 1.5 years and currently has a 52 percent win ratio.
Turkey got off to an awful start the Euro 2016 Group A qualifiers under Terim. The Crescent-Stars are currently last with just one point after three games.
Turkey take on Kazakhstan next at the Türk Telekom Arena in desperate need of a win.
