Arsenal could consider selling Mesut Özil over the summer transfer window according to his agent Dr Erkut Söğüt.
The Vatan newspaper quoted Söğüt as saying: “Fenerbahçe want Mesut but it all depends on what Arsenal want and it is hard to figure out what they will decide until the end of the season. If he does end up leaving Arsenal Fenerbahçe would be a serious option.”
Söğüt did however, also underline that Özil is happy at Arsenal and that he believes head coach Arsene Wenger is fully behind the World Cup winner.
“Mesut is very happy at Arsenal and his manager is very happy as well. Personally I think he is going to keep improving,” he added.
Özil still has another three-years left on his lucrative contract and is the highest paid player in the Arsenal squad.
The 26-year-old has won two FA Cup trophies and the Community Shield since joining the North London based side on a record £42.5 million transfer fee in 2013.
Fenerbahçe made a number of high profile signings over the summer including Manchester United duo Robin van Persie and Luis Nani. However, the World Cup winner is a first-team regular at Arsenal and has aways stated that he is happy at the club as well as a fan of Wenger.
Özil is expected to start for the Gunners in the Premier League clash against reigning champions Chelsea on the weekend.
