Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have dismissed claims from a Turkish sports pundit Ridvan Dilmen, that the club sent fake medical reports to the Turkish national team.
Bayer rejected claims that they sent a fake medical report so that Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak could avoid playing on the same team as Gökhan Töre – whose friend pulled a gun out on the both of them.
On the NTVspor football show ‘100% Futbol’ Dilmen said, “Hakan and Ömer were called up by Fatih Terim but they didn’t turn up.
They sent the 60-year-old manager a fake medical report. The National team doctor has even disputed the medical reports.
The former Turkish international went on to say, “There are injuries that occure which mean you cannot play on a Tuesday but can play on the weekend however, fake medical reports are unacceptable.
“This information was passed onto me by National team officials, a press conference should be called to discuss this very matter.”
However, Bayer Leverkuse’s doctor Karl Heinrich Dittm refuted the claims made by Dilmen.
“The claims are illogical. We have never sent a fake medical report. The things being said are complete lies,” Dittm stated.
Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller also spoke on the matter, “Our medical team has been working closley with the Turkish Football Federation. The stories in the media are fabricated.”
