Turkish Super League week 6 was as eventful as ever. Beşiktaş lifted their derby curse, Galatasaray rejoined the title race and a referee apologised live for his mistakes live on air.
Osmanlıspor 3-1 Trabzonspor
Osmanlıspor delivered Trabzonspor an Ottoman slap as they crushed the Black Sea Storm in Ankara. Romanian international Torje had a brilliant game providing two assists and getting on the scoresheet himself. The only thing Trabzonspor can take from the defeat is that on-loan Chelsea winger Marko Marin was impressive again and scored his first league goal. The home side moved into first place following the win while Trabzonspor dropped into eight. The
Galatasaray 2-1 Gaziantepspor
The reigning champions won their second consecutive league game but had to come from behind with goals from former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski and Umut Bulut. The Lions did not exactly blow their opponents away but can take solace from the midfield partnership of Rodriguez and Bilal Kısa starting to gel. The big question head coach Hamza Hamzaoğlu has on his hands is whether to bring Selçuk İnan back into the fold or stick with the status quo.

Akhisar 1-0 Gençlerbirliği
The Akigolar continue to perform far above expectation on a shoestring budget. Akhisar beat Gençlerbirliği 1-0 at home to maintain their 100 percent home record.
Konyaspor 2-0 Mersin
Mersin are in crisis. The Mediterranean based side have only managed to pick up one point this season and are looking like early relegation favourites. Mersin are of course currently under a transfer ban and lost a lot of blood over the summer. Konyaspor meanwhile won their first home game of the season with goals from Abdou Traore and Samuel Holmen.
Antalyaspor 1-1 Sivasspor
The draw masters Sivasspor pulled off their fourth consecutive draw in a row against the Scorpions. Sivasspor have been defending well but have struggled on the goal scoring front and had to rely on an own goal from Kvesic to score their seventh goal of the season. Eto’o may have had a quiet game for Antalyaspor but Lazarevic was brilliant and scored the equaliser.
Beşiktaş 3-2 Fenerbahçe
This clash had all the ingredients for a great derby; goals, passion and scandal. Fenerbahçe defender Simon Kjaer opened the scoring but unfortunately for him it was against his own keeper although it did look like Ersan Gülüm was slightly offside. Beşiktaş doubled their lead a few minutes later capitalising from yet more poor Fenerbahçe defending from set-pieces as Mario Gomez headed home his third goal of the season. This time it was Tosic’s turn to score an own goal as he got Fenerbahçe back into the game with a flying header into his own net. Fenerbahçe manager Vitor Pereira’s decision not to start with Robin van Persie got quite a lot of stick and when the flying Dutchman scored just four minutes after his introduction on 60 minutes with his first shot on target it only made matters worse. Beşiktaş will claim that the goal should not have stood as it looked as if the assist provider Volkan Şen controlled the ball from outside play. Fenerbahçe will claim that Ersan Gülüm should have been sent off not once but twice. It was however, Beşiktaş that got the last laugh. Gökhan Töre burst down the wing and whipped in a pinpoint cross that Gomez sent crashing into the back of the net with a flying header. The victory was the Black Eagles first derby win in two years – ironically their last derby win was also a 3-2 triumph over Fenerbahçe.

Kasımpaşa 1-1 Rizespor
Kasımpaşa were leading until the 5th minute of additional time when referee Deniz Çoban – who had already sent off two Rizespor players – awarded the away side a penalty for what was quite clearly a dive. Up stepped the mischief maker Kwueke who converted to rescue a late point. What happened next will go down in football folklore for years to come. The referee upon watching his mistakes after the game stormed the post match interview with Kasımpaşa manager Rıza Çalmbay and live on air apologised to the head coach, to both teams, to the football federation and all referees before announcing he should really think about a new job.

Kayserispor 0-1 Başakşehir
It was business as usual for Başakşehir. After uncharacteristically poor defensive performances at the start of the season the Istanbul minnows have returned to basics and kept two clean sheets in their last two games – winning both matches.
Bursaspor 2-0 Eskişehirspor
The Green Crocodiles are showing signs of life again as they won the second of their last three games. Bursaspor are starting to gel and have more than enough quality to make up lost ground and catch the leading pack.
