Eskişehirspor defender Diego Angelo has revealed that he would be proud to play for the Turkish national team.
“It would be an honour to play for the Turkish national team, I would be proud to do so,” Angelo said.
“But of course for this to happen there would have to be some changes and developments.”
Foreign players in Turkey can be granted Turkish citizenship after five years making them eligible to represent the Crescent-Stars at international level.
Angelo would be able to represent Turkey as he has played in Turkey for five years and does not have a cap for his country of origin, Brazil.
Turkey has had an international player of Brazilian origin represent the national team in the past.
Marco Aurelio who later changed his name to Mehmet Aurelio and adopted Turkish citizenship played in the national team side that reached the Euro 2008 semi-finals.
