Besiktas Chairman Fikret Orman has stated that he tried to sign Hakan Çalhanoğlu last season.
Orman spoke to the TRT football show Stadyum and shed some light on the clubs transfer targets.
“We tried to bring Hakan Çalhanoğlu to Besiktas last season but we couldn’t agree upon the transfer fee with his club.” Orman said.
“Hakan is a player I would love to see in a Besiktas shirt.”
The duo were involved in an altercation where a friend of Töre pulled a gun on Çalhanoğlu and his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Ömer Toprak last year.
The Turkish international moved to Leverkusen from HSV for €14.5 million in June.
Çalhanoğlu is one of the most highly rated Turkish players. The 20-year-old was named best young player of the 2013/14 season by leading German football magazine 11 Freunde.
The 20-year-old playmaker has made six assists and scored five goals in 19 appearances for Leverkusen this season.
