Arsenal beat Everton 2-1 at the Emirates to move into first place in the Premier League table.
Mesut Özil set up Olivier Giroud with the first goal and his performance was singled out for praise by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
The former Arsenal star stated that Özil is capable of controlling games and that he dictated the tempo against Everton.
“When he had to slow the game down he slowed the game down, when he had to hold it and win a foul he did, when he had to play the ball forward he did what he had to do,” Henry said speaking on Sky Sports after the Arsenal victory over Everton.
The World Cup winner provided his fifth assist in four league games against Everton giving him the best ‘games per assist’ record in Premier League history.
1. Mesut Ozil: 2.71
2. Eric Cantona: 2.79
3. Cesc Fabregas: 2.88
The 27-year-old has provided 93 assists since August 2008, only Lionel Messi has setup more goals over the same time period (98).
Arsenal take on Swansea City next in the Premier League on Saturday 31 October 2015.
