Ilkay Gündoğan is one of the best midfielders in Germany according to the BT Sport pundit Raphael Honigstein.
“It took him six months to adjust and he hardly played and was seen as a flop,” BT Sport’s German football expert Honigstein told the Sport Review.
“He switched on and got it and became one of the best players in Germany in this position. Technically, he is a player, but there is more to it.”
Gündoğan has been linked with a move to Liverpool ever since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp earlier this month.
Dortmund rejected an approach from Manchester United just before the end of the summer window for Gündoğan according to the German newspaper Express.
Gündoğan recently played down reports linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund but opted not to rule them out completely.
“About my future? I currently have no idea. This is very, very far away,” Gündoğan told Sport1.
