Barcelona sporting director, Ariedo Braida, was at the Weserstadion to scout Ilkay Gündoğan as Dortmund defeated Werder Bremen 3-1 on Saturday according to Goal.
Gündoğan was closely linked with a move to Barcelona last summer but the 25-year-old decided to extend his contract with Dortmund.
The report goes on to state that Manchester United were also interested in Gündoğan during pre-season.
The Germany international recently played down reports linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund but opted not to rule them out completely.
“About my future? I currently have no idea. This is very, very far away,” Gündoğan told Sport1.
Gündoğan has started the season well in the Bundesliga under Dortmund’s new manager Thomas Tuchel. Dortmund sit in second place in the Bundesliga with 23 points in ten games.
Dortmund take on Azerbaijan side Qabala next in the Europa League on Thursday and Gündoğan is expected to start for the German giants.
