The former Chelsea player and assistant manager Ray Wilkins has heaped praise on the newly appointed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for playing Emre Can in midfield.
Wilkins has stated that the 21-year-old’s natural position is in midfield citing Can’s performances during the U21 European Championships last summer.
“He’s playing Can in his best position. He is a midfield player. I saw him play last year with the German Under-21s, and he was absolutely outstanding as a central midfield player,” Wilkins told TalkSport.
“That’s where he is playing now, and it looks as if he will develop into a hell of a midfield player.”
Can has played every Premier League game since Jurgen Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager in Brendan Rodger’s place.
The 21-year-old played a major role in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League. Can started in midfield and helped the Reds control possession for most of the game completing the highest number of passes in midfield (74) at an 84 percent.
Liverpool take on take on Crystal Palace this weekend at Anfield and can move up to sixth place with a victory.
