Beşiktaş striker Mario Gomez is back to what he does best and already has nine goals for the Istanbul giants this season.
The experienced striker managed to impress Joachim Low enough to earn a recall to the Germany national team and Manchester United have been keeping close tabs on Gomez according to the Telegraph.
Gomez has performed on the highest level before sure it may not have worked out for him at Fiorentina but as the saying goes form is temporary class is permanent.
Here are three reasons Gomez could end up being a hit at United should they sign him.
1. Louis van Gaal connection
United boss Louis van Gaal and Gomez have history. The Germany international was scoring goals for fun under the stewardship of the Dutch manager while at Bayern Munich. The experienced striker was the Bundesliga top goalscorer in 2010-11 netting 28 times. Van Gaal was and is still is a fan of the powerful striker as illustrated in a recent press conference: “I was manager of Bayern, and there the striker was Mario Gomez, and he touched the ball nine times as an average in a game,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
