Cesare Prandelli wanted to leave Galatasaray according to club president Duygun Yarsuvat.

“Prandelli wanted to leave,” Yarsuvat said.

“Taffarel did a great job, we are talking about someone who even made Felipe Melo a good goalkeeper.

“The team played well, we may have to play Beşiktaş in Konya now but all of Turkey is home for Galatasaray and we are happy to play anywhere.”

Yarsuvat also underlined that Hamza Hamzaoğlu will be a good appointment for Galatasaray.

“Hamza Hamzaoğlu is a promising young manager, he will be fresh blood and I am sure he will be successful, I envision bright days ahead,” Yarsuvat said.

The former Italy national team coach won six, drew two and  lost seven of the 15 games he was in charge of Galatasaray.

Galatasaray sacked Prandelli on Wednesday when the former Italy national team manager was just five months into his two-year contract.
