Galatasaray did not approach Fatih Terim says Albayrak [divider]
Galatasaray did not approach Fatih Terim for the vacant managerial position following the sacking of Cesare Prandelli according to board member Ali Dürüst.
“We did not approach Fatih Terim for the job, we did not consult him regarding Hamza Hazmaoğlu either,” Dürüst said.
“His contract will be until the end of the season, if he is successful we will consider an extension.
“Hamzaoğlu was the most suitable candidate and will help us through this transition.
“Every club has financial problems and we are one of them but we did not pay the Turkish Football Federation compensation for the appointing Hamzaoğlu as our manager.”
Hamzaoğlu was Turkish national team coach Fatih Terim’s assistant coach. Hamzaoğlu has also previously coached Akhisar in the Turkish Super League.
Galatasaray are currently in first place in the Super League with 22 points from 11 games.
