Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was full of praise for Mesut Özil following the Gunners 3-0 victory over Dynamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Henry was impressed with Özil’s desire to get into the opposition penalty area and try to score himself rather than just looking for the assist.
Henry said speaking on BT Sport after the game: “And today the difference with Özil is that he is getting in the box he scores there but what people argue and have a problem with is that he hasn’t had a desire to get in the box,
“If you want to be a world class player you can’t just be an assist man but today he showed elements that he can do it that he can produce.”
The World Cup winner scored the opening goal and had a number of attempts on the Zagreb goal.
Özil does only have just three goals this season but they have been scored in arguably the Gunners most important games of the season. The 28-year-old netted against Manchester United in the league, Bayern Munich in the Champions League and his goal against Zagreb has given his side hope of reaching the next stage of the competition.
Arsenal have to beat Greek giants Olympiakos in their next game to reach the Champions League Last 16.
