Reports in Turkiye claimed that Gundogan held talks with the Lions over a potential move in January. Galatasaray are reportedly in the market for a new midfielder after being left disappointed with Tottenham loanee Tanguy Ndombele.
However, despite continuous rumours Gündogan’s agent, Ilhan Gündogan has refuted these claims. In fact, he said that he has not even met anyone from the Turkish giants.
“The news that appeared in the press during these days about Ilkay does not reflect the truth. I didn’t met with anyone from Galatasaray before the Bayern Munich match to talk about Ilkay,” Gundogan told Mundo Deportivo.
“There was no development, meeting or anything that came to us in this regard.
“I want to make this clear. Neither I nor Ilkay can understand how this news came about. Ilkay is very happy in Barcelona and is focused on what he wants to achieve there and on his goals.”
Despite reports that Gundogan is unhappy and looking to leave the club he has started in all but one La Liga game this season.
Gundogan has one goal and five assists in 17 appearanes in all competitions so far this season.
Additionally he is under contract until 2025 and Barcelona are third in La Liga just four points off the leaders and first in their Champions League group.
