Alan Shearer destroys Arsenal playmaker following 1-1 draw with Man United

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil

BBC football pundit and former England international Alan Shearer ripped into Mesut Ozil’s performance for Arsenal during the Gunners 1-1 draw with Manchester United last weekend.

Speaking on Match of the day, Shearer admitted that Ozil has been in sensation form of late but said that has was disappointed in the Germany international’s performance against United.

Shearer went onto question Ozil’s drive after a ‘sloppy’ performance.

“I didn’t think they [Arsenal] played well at all, they were very poor for the vast majority of the game,” Shearer stated on Match of the Day.

‘They looked very leggy, very tired, very sloppy,’

“Even this guy, Ozil, who has been brilliant for all the season looked really tried, wasn’t up for it today and it was mistake after mistake.”

The Red Devils were 1-0 up shortly after half time when Juan Mata found the back of the net. United looked on course to come away with all three points however, were stuck with a sucker punch in the closing minutes of the games.

Olivier Giroud headed home the equalising goal in the 89th minutes to salvage a point for Arsene Wengers side.

Arsenal remained in forth place in the Premier League following Saturday’s 1-1 draw. Arsene Wenger’s side take on Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League this week.
