Former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has parted ways with Turkish club Besiktas, paving the way for a potential return to England before the transfer window closes according to the Birmingham Mail.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been widely linked with a move to Birmingham City.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined Besiktas in 2023, has had his contract terminated a year early, with the Turkish club reportedly paying him a €1.75 million settlement.
The move frees him up to join a new team in the final days of the window.
Birmingham City, under manager Chris Davies, has already been active this summer, making ten new signings. While Davies is reportedly prioritizing defensive reinforcements, the club may look at other options if players depart.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career includes six-year stints at both Arsenal and Liverpool, where he won the Premier League, Champions League, and three FA Cups.
He is known for his versatility, capable of playing in midfield, on the wing, or even at full-back. His experience and trophy-winning pedigree would be a significant asset to any club.
A product of the Southampton academy, Oxlade-Chamberlain earned 35 caps for England, with his last international appearance coming in 2019.
It remains to be seen where the veteran will land, but the countdown is on for a deal to be completed before Monday’s 7 p.m. deadline.
