Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu sent an emotional tweet to his followers following news that Turkey finished the Amputee World Cup as runners-up on Sunday.

Turkey lost 5-4 in a penalty shootout to Angola in the 2018 Amputee World Cup in Mexico in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The final ended goalless in regulation time and neither side were able to break the deadlock in extra-time forcing the game into penalties.

Turkey joined the tournament as the reigning European Amputee Football champions and were unbeaten at the World Cup until the final, beating Ireland, Russia and hosts Mexico en-route to the final.

Soyuncu shared a photograph of a Turkish international player in tears on the floor alongside the following message which translated from Turkish to English reads: “Results are not important, you are always our champions! you do not need to apologize we should be thanking you all!”
