Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti explained that Arda Güler is still not at 100% fitness after recovering from two injuries, which is why he has not played in the past two matches.

Güler was a highly sought-after player in the summer transfer window, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona interested in signing him.

He eventually chose to join Real Madrid, despite the interest from their rivals. Güler had a great season with Fenerbahçe last year, and is considered to be one of the most talented young players in Europe.

Despite Arda making the squad for the Rayo Vallecano and Braga game he did not make his debut.

Ancelotti explained the decision, “We’re closely monitoring him. Coming back from two significant injuries, he’s been participating in all team practices for about a week. When Arda reaches 100%, he’ll see playing time.”

It looked like the Turkish international might be given minutes after Real took a 3-0 lead against Braga but Ancelotti decided not to rush him back.

Turkish national team coach Vincenzo Montella was also watching the Real Madrid vs. Braga match and watched him during training in the build up to the game.

Montella was asked why he was in Madrid and responded with the following.

The 18-year-old is expected to make his debut very soon and will be included in the squad for Real’s next game against Valencia at Santiago Bernabeu.
