Basaksehir take on Antalyaspor in the Antalya Arena on Saturday in the Super Lig.

The Istanbul minnows are just five games away from making history.

The league leaders have never been crowned champions before but are two points ahead of 2nd placed Trabzonspor who take on 4th placed Galatasaray.

Of course, we have been here before. Basaksehir have come close to winning the league several times over the past few years but always found a way to mess things up.

Could this be the year?

Antalyaspor vs Basaksehir Preview

Basaksehir have been brilliant since the league restart winning twice and holding title challengers Galatasaray to a draw.

As predicted, they appear to be thriving in an era of no fans. They are used to playing without supporters in contrast to pretty much every other side in the league.

But this is where the pressure really starts. They are now favorites to lift the league title.

Basaksehir will be without star midfielder Edin Visca who was sent off against Galatasaray. Additionally, Danijel Aleksic and Mahmut Tekdemir are also suspended.

The visitors will be weakened as a result. Mehmet Topal and Berkay Ozcan will be drafted in but the missing players, Visca in particular have played a huge role in Basaksehir’s title challenge.

Antalyaspor meanwhile, are safe from relegation in 9th place but a top-four finish is unlikely. They do not have much to play for and that makes them unpredictable. You never know what to get with teams like the Scorpios at this stage in the season.

Basaksehir have however, won all six games against Antalyaspor in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in their last four games. Antalyaspor on the other hand are undefeated in their last 11 league games.

The Istanbul side are favorites but they are missing key players, under a lot of pressure and will be playing in unbearable heat and humidity.

I see them struggling on Saturday but they should still have enough to leave Antalya with at least a point.
