Arda Guler & Can Uzun Called Up For The Turkish National Team

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced the provisional squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Hungary and Austria, featuring four debutants and the absence of injured goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The national team will face Hungary on March 22nd at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, followed by a match against Austria on March 28th at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.

Four players have received their first call-up to the senior national team: Semih Kılıçsoy, Can Uzun, Ahmetcan Kaplan, and Muhammed Şengezer.

Uzun recently decided to represent Turkiye at senior level despite Germany also wanting him to play for them.

The 18-year-old Nuremberg forward was born in Germany but is of Turkish heritage and had the option to represent both countries.

Uzun has 16 goals and three assists in 24 appearances in all competitions this seasons.

Real Madrid star Arda Guler has also got a call up for the first time since returning from injury.

Manchester United’s Altay Bayindir will miss the friendlies due to a muscle strain that will sideline him for approximately two weeks, as confirmed by the club.

The Turkish national team have booked a place in Euro 2024 where they will face Portugal, Czechia and the final team in the group has yet to be determined.
