Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: I haven’t seen Ozil for a week

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that has not seen Mesut Ozil for a week according to The Sun.

The Germany international missed the Gunners 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace and was also sidelined during Arsenal’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

Alex Iwobi stepped into Ozil’s favoured number 10 role but was unable to add any assists or goals to his tally.

Wenger also confirmed that Ozil has remained in bed with an illness and is currently not training along with the rest of the squad.

“I haven’t seen him for a week,” Wenger was quoted as saying by the Sun.

“It was an easy decision [not to include him]. He is still in bed.

Arsenal missed the chance to move up into third place in the league after failing to defeat Bournemouth.The Gunners are currently eight points behind leaders Chelsea who take on Tottenham tonight.

Ozil has been in exceptional form this season with seven assists and nine goals in 23 apperances for the Gunners this term.

Arsenal take on Preston in the FA cup this weekend as they look to return to winning ways.
