Arsenal Could Face Competition From Chelsea, Liverpool & Man City For £35m Bundesliga Star Caglar Soyuncu

Caglar Soyuncu

Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu has been closely linked with a move to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has confirmed Gunners interest and has made it clear talks over his future will be held after the international break.

Turkish-Football quoted Soyuncu as saying: “One of the biggest clubs in England, Arsenal are interested but it is not a done deal yet.

“I am going to play the international games first and then we will make a decision, I will hold further talks afterwards.”

Sources close to the player have told Turkish-Football understands that Soyuncu wants Premier League football with assurances of regular playing time.

The official Bundesliga website recently wrote a report praising the rising star and made a few interesting revelations.

The article claims that Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are all in the race for the young centre-back.

City and the Reds would be able to offer Soyuncu Champions League football next season unlike Arsenal who will be competing in the Europa League again.

Freiburg reportedly do not want to sell Soyuncu.

“He’s not for sale,” Freiburg sporting director Jochen Saier was quoted as saying in the piece. “It doesn’t matter how much money’s involved, he’s not going anywhere. He’s done really well and we want to continue working together – and he does, too.”

The German side value the Turkey international as being worth £35 million and he is under contract until 2021.

The article game Soyuncu a glowing reference: “Yet with natural pace – especially over short distances – the ability to read and time a tackle to near-enough perfection and an open mind – qualities that have seen him likened to Bayern Munich defensive rock Mats Hummels – the progression was never going to take long.”

Soyuncu moved from Turkish second tier side Altinordu directly to Freiburg on a £2.4 million move in 2016.

The Freiburg starlet has established himself as a first-choice defender in the Bundesliga.
