Arsenal’s fringe defender, Cedric Soares, is closing in on a move to Turkish giants Besiktas, with personal terms reportedly agreed but club negotiations lingering according to Football Insider.
While the 32-year-old Portuguese desires a fresh start, the Gunners aim to squeeze a fee out of Besiktas before letting him go.

Soares’ contract expires at season’s end, making him a free agent come summer. However, Arsenal, keen to avoid losing him for nothing, are pushing for a loan fee or even a permanent transfer this month.
This puts Besiktas at a crossroads: sign him now and pay up, or wait until summer and secure him for free?
Arteta, satisfied with Ben White at right-back, has no qualms about letting Soares depart. The former Southampton star’s meager two senior appearances this season – including a Champions League cameo – highlight his diminished role in north London.
Besiktas appears the most likely landing spot, offering Soares a chance to reignite his career. Whether it’s a permanent deal now or a loan-to-free transfer later, the Istanbul-based club could soon welcome the Euro 2016 champion into their ranks.
The Black Eagles are already out of the title race, have sacked three managers and had a change of club president.
Despite the turmoil the club have steadied the ship but are focused on rebuilding for next season. Despite this a top four finish is still a realistic goal and would secure European competition football next season.
Besiktas are currently 4th in the Super Lig, two points behind 3rd placed Trabzonspor but 18 points behind leaders Fenerbahce.
