Arsenal defender makes prediction regarding Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil future
Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has stated that he is confident both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will remain at the north London based club this season.
The duo have been linked with January moves away from the club due to their contract situation. Both Ozil and Sanchez have under seven months left on their deal’s with Arsenal and could end up leaving the club for free next summer.
Arsenal could opt to cash in on their star names in January rather than lose them for nothing.
However, Monreal told IBTimes UK that he believes Ozil and Sanchez will not be leaving in January.
“Yes, the feeling is that they will continue. At no time have we talked about the possibility of them leaving,” Monreal stated.
“Not at all. They are committed to the group and we will see what happens.
“I can’t say much about it. It does not depend on me. The situation is clear. They are two vital players for Arsenal. They are two players who end their contracts at the end of the season.
“If the club want them to stay beyond December [the January transfer window] they will follow. Yet, I do not know the club’s intentions. It is other people who are the ones who have to make a decision.”
Arsenal recorded a 2-0 victory over their biter rivals Tottenham last weekend. Both Ozil and Sanchez played starring roles in their side’s convincing victory.
The Germany international was named as man of the match for his performance which included an assist for the opener.
