Arsenal Face Competition For Cengiz Under As Man City Prepared To Splash £50m On Turkey International

Manchester City are prepared to pay £50m for Roma winger Cengiz Under according to the Express.

Per the source, City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on the Turkey international after going over his reports on the player.

City could make a move for the 21-year-old despite having Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez available on the wings.

The Citizens have a long-standing interest in the Turkey international.

Under’s representatives informed Turkish-Football that City were close to signing Under before he joined Roma.

City were on the verge of signing the young winger until Roma offered an improved bid with the promise of first-team football.

The Manchester based side have kept tabs on Under since his move to the Giallorossi.

City could face competition from Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Bayern Munich who have also been keeping tabs on Under.

Arsenal and Tottenham have made enquiries to Under’s representatives while Bayern see the winger as an end of season replacement for Arjen Robben.

Under is likely to leave over the next two transfer windows due to an ongoing wage dispute.

The winger is one of the lowest paid members in the Roma squad earning approximately €1m per-season. Under’s representatives have been pushing for a pay increase but he is contracted to the Giallorossi until 2022.

Roma are in no hurry to offer him a pay increase and are prepared to sell Under over the summer for a substantial profit.
