Mesut Özil played 75 minutes in Arsenal’s disappointing defeat at the hands of their London rivals Chelsea.
The Gunners lost 2-0 against the reigning Premier League champions and had two players sent off – Gabriel as well as Santi Cazorla.
Özil started against Chelsea and made the joint highest number of interceptions in midfield (2) but was dispossessed three times.
The 26-year-old also maintained a 90 percent pass accuracy and made the joint highest number of key passes (2).
Özil received a rating of 6.64 from whoscored, which was the highest of all of Arsenal’s attackers. The Germany international took no shots on target, made one cross and made a total of just 32 passes thought the game.
The Gunners dropped into 5th place in the league following the defeat while Chelsea moved into 13th place on points after six games. Arsenal travel away to Leicester next week while Chelsea take on Newcastle United on the road.
Following the final whistle we took to Twitter to see how Özil’s latest performance went down on social media. Read a selection of what we found below:

Yet another big game where Mesut Ozil has been invisible…

Guess what? Mesut Özil is invisible. Nothing new in these big games. Chelsea don't need to close him down whatsoever when he's on the ball.
