Arsenal had a £55m offer for Roma starlet Cengiz Under rejected according to the Fotomac newspaper.

Per the source, the Gunners bid for Under was the second that has been turned away by the Giallorossi in recent months.

Under has been in impressive form for Roma this season scoring six goals and providing eight assists in 23 appearances.

The 21-year-old is however, likely to leave the Serie A outfit this summer due to an ongoing contract dispute.

Under is contracted to Roma until 2022 but is one of the lowest paid players in the squad earning approximately €1m per-season.

Eren Sarigul of Turkish-Football wrote for ESPN that Arsenal are among three sides to show a serious interest in Under and that they have been scouting him closely.

The other two clubs that want the Turkey international has Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Roma are reluctant to offer the young winger a new deal and are prepared to sell at the end of the campaign.

Under has made it clear he is open to a move to England were he to leave Italy.

The rising star is however, unlikely to leave Roma over the winter transfer window.
