Arsenal January signing already broken assist record – but states Mesut Ozil is the real “king”

Arsenal’s January signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan has hit the ground running following his move to the north London based club.

The Armenia international joined the Gunners over the January transfer window from Man United in a deal which saw Alexis Sanchez go in the opposite direction.

Mkhitaryan played a starring role during Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Everton in the Premier League last weekend.

According to the Mirror, the former Dortmund star broke a record by providing three assists in a single Premier League game.

However, Mkhitaryan has remained adamant that Mesut Ozil is the assist ‘king’.

“Here at Arsenal I know that lots of players move a lot and it’s incredible the way the team plays. I will do my best to assist them as well,” Mkhitaryan told the clubs official website.

“I think it will be really fun to play alongside Ozil. Everyone knows he’s a fantastic player, he’s an assist king.”

The duo are expected to be back in action for the Gunners when they take on their north London rivals Tottenham in the Premier League.

The clash takes place at Wembley on Saturday while kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (GMT).
