Mesut Ozil & Alexis Sanchez both heading for Arsenal ‘exit door’ says former England international

Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will leave the north London-based club.

The former England international doesn’t think either player will sign a contract extension with the Gunners. However, Keown does believe the pair will remain as Arsenal players until the end of the season.

“I think both players are heading for the exit door and they’ll do it when Wenger decides not when they decide.” Keown told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I think Arsene Wenger thinks, ‘I’ve got him now, I’ve got him almost on the cheap, he’s done really well for me, let’s keep him for one more year – that’s 50 per cent of my time I’m going to be the manager of Arsenal”

Ozil has under 12 months remaining on his contract with Arsenal but appears to be happy at the north London-based club. According to the Sun, Arsenal are on the verge of striking a new deal with the Germany international.

Alexis Sanchez meanwhile hasn’t featured for Arsenal since their FA Cup win last season.

Ozil played a starring role during Arsenal’s 4-3 victory over Leicester City last weekend. The 28-year-old is expected to be included in Arsene Wenger’s squad once again this weekend.

Sanchez meanwhile was sidelined with an abdominal injury and is a doubt going into Arsenal’s clash with Stoke City on Saturday evening.
