Arsenal ‘very lucky’ to have Mesut Ozil – says World Cup winner

Arsenal are fortunate to have Mesut Ozil according to his international teammate Jerome Boateng.

The World Cup winner backed Ozil during an interview with beIN Sports. Ozil has come under fire in recent weeks following Arsenal’s embarrassing 5-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Boateng played in the same Germany side which won the Fifa 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Bayern Munich centre-back has stated that Ozil is one of the best passers of the ball he has played with.

“He is world class. Every player has a period where it’s not everything goes well,” Boateng said during an interview with beIN Sports.

“He knows this by himself and he will make everything to play good for his team. He’s one of the best players in the world.

“When he was at Real Madrid he made the most assists – even at Arsenal. So I think they are very lucky to have him.”

Arsenal fans have been unhappy with Ozil’s recent form as the 28-year-old has failed to find the back of the net in the Gunners last ten games.

Ozil has 18-months remaining on his contract with Arsenal and is currently locked in negotiations with the north London based club.

Arsenal take on Liverpool this weekend as they look to secure a top-four spot.
