Gunners need ‘a result badly’ in the FA Cup says former legend
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has stated that the Gunners are in need of a result this weekend.
The North London based club take on Lincoln in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Arsene Wenger’s side are coming off the back of a 10-2 aggregate defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
The FA Cup is Arsenal’s only realistic chance of silverware this season.
Merson told SkySports that Arsenal ‘need a result badly’ and fully expects them to comfortably defeat Lincoln.
“Arsenal need a result badly and they will get one here. The gulf between the two sides will be ridiculous, especially on the carpet of a pitch at the Emirates,” Merson told SkySports.
“This is Arsenal’s only chance now of any sort of success this season so I don’t see anything other than a home win.
“It’s great Lincoln have got to this stage but this is where it will end for them.”
Arsenal are currently in fifth place in the Premier League with 50 points after 26 games.
