Arsenal star Mesut Özil

The former Real Madrid and AC Milan star Kaka has stated that Mesut Ozil can win the Ballon d’Or award.

Kaka did however warn Ozil that there are a lot of factors involved in winning the Ballon d’Or.

“He can do a lot of things with Arsenal,” said Kaka.

“To win the Ballon d’Or doesn’t just depend on him. It depends on a lot of other things. You have to win a lot of things to arrive at that award.”

Kaka was the last player to win the Ballon d’Or before Messi and Ronaldo’s spell of dominance. Ronaldo won the award in 2008 followed by Messi winning the Ballon d’Or four years in  a row. Ronaldo has won in the last two years.

Özil was came under fire from sections of the media and fans at the start of the season but has received several awards since the turn of the year.
