Arsenal are considering a move for Fenerbahce’s Danish international defender Simon Kjear.
According to SkySports, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is readying alternatives after talks between Arsenal and Valencia over Shkodran Mustafi stalled. SkySports do however reiterate that Mustafi is still the north London based club’s primary target.
The report goes onto say that Wenger is determined to strengthen his defence following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.
Kjear joined Fenerbahce from the Ligue 1 side Lille for £6.5 million last summer. The Danish defender has been a hit in Istanbul and went onto make 45 appearances for the Yellow Canaries last season.
Arsenal were without Mertesacker and Gabriel in their opening game due to injuries. Koscielny also missed the clash which resulted in Arsenal losing 4-3 against Liverpool at the Emirates.
Fenerbahce take on the Swiss side Grasshoppers in the Europa league qualification clash this week. Arsenal take on last season’s Premier League champions Leicester City this weekend.
