Arsenal set to make first transfer of the summer after striking £6m deal to sell to Turkish league giants

Arsenal are set to complete their first transfer of the season according to reports in Turkey.

The Cumhuriyet newspaper claim that Fenerbahce have struck a €7 [£6] million deal with Arsenal over the transfer of David Ospina.

Per the source, Fenerbahce have already reached an agreement with Ospina to sign the keeper at the end of the season.

The report claims that reigning Turkish league champions Besiktas and Trabzonspor are also interested in the keeper.

Turkish newspaper Milliyet recently reported that Ospina gave Fenerbahce the green light to push ahead with the transfer.

They report Ospina as saying, “Istanbul may be a new adventure and motivation for me. If my club are persuaded, it’s okay for me.”

The Colombian international is reported to be unhappy with his role at Arsenal playing second fiddle in the Premier League to Petr Cech.

Ospina did feature as first-team keeper for the Gunners in the Champions League but the Mirror claim that he is unsatisfied and open to a summer move.

Fenerbahce are planning a squad overhaul next season after a disappointing campaign.

The Yellow Canaries are 3rd in the Turkish league, 11 points off leaders Besiktas.
