Arsenal star Alex Iwobi was full of praise for teammate Mesut Ozil following the 3-0 Europa League victory over BATE last Thursday.

The Nigeria international described Ozil as being ‘world class’ and hoped that head coach Unai Emery continues giving him playing time.

Iwobi underlined that Ozil has the vision to unlock his attacking runs and that he has been impressive in training.

“We know what Mesut is like because we see him in training every day,” Iwobi said after game.

“He’s world class. We scored three goals as a result of him playing. I know if I make a run he has the vision to find me. Hopefully he can keep on playing.”

Ozil started against BATE after a lengthy spell out of the side and was involved in all three goals.

Sokratis also spoke highly of the playmaker of Turkish origin calling him a ‘fantastic player’.

“Mesut is a fantastic player and when he is fit he is one of the most important players of the team,” Sokratis said.

“Of course when something is not going good, everybody is there to criticise, but we have to see also what Mesut did in the last years for this team. All the players are behind him and we need a good Mesut to go [forward] because we know that he is very important for us.”

Ozil was given a brief appearance off the bench in the 2-0 win over Southampton on the weekend and is expected to make the matchday squad tonight against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Emery could however, rotate his side with the North London derby against Tottenham just a few days away.

The Gunners will have played four games in just over a week when they take on Spurs on Saturday.
